Whetstone Whales

The Whetstone Whales, founded in 1975, is the oldest of the three Montgomery Village swim teams. Our swim team is open to children ages 4–18 who live in our assigned area, as well as families outside Montgomery Village who purchase the required pool pass.

The Whetstone Whales focus is to teach and improve swimming skills in a fun and friendly environment.

The Whetstone Whales Swim Team is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID: 92-3479817). All donations are tax-deductible.

The cost per swimmer is $195.

The Whetstone Whales serve families in the following Montgomery Village communities:

Club Hill, Clubside, Clusters I and II, Clusters III, Dockside, Fairway Islands, Forest Brooke, Frenchton Place, Grover’s Forge, The Hamptons, Hawthorne, The Heights, Maryland Place, Millrace, Nathan’s Hill, Poplar Spring, The Ridges of Stedwick, Whetstone, Wisteria.

Families outside these communities are still welcome to join by purchasing a Montgomery Village Foundation pool membership or swim team pass, depending on eligibility.

“Buy-in” communities are Montgomery Village neighborhoods that are not part of the standard MVF assessment but can participate in swim team activities by purchasing a Swim Team pass.

These include: Center Court, Center Stage, Christopher Court, Heron’s Cove, Horizon Run, Normandie on the Lake I and II, Overlook Condos, Park Place I and II, Thomas Choice Condo, Thomas Choice Gardens, Thomas Choice West, Village Center Townhomes, Village Center Condos, Walker’s Choice.

Families from outside MVF communities may also purchase a full MVF family pool membership (currently $630 per year), which provides summer access to all MVF pools.
