Sam steps into his first season as Head Coach of the Whetstone Whales after three years as an assistant, bringing both coaching experience and a long history with the team. A former Whale for nine years, he also swam all four years at Watkins Mill High School and went on to coach at Washington & Jefferson College.
Backstroke is his favorite stroke, and he’s a big fan of the team’s cheers 🔊 . One of his favorite Whale moments is becoming a coach—something that now comes full circle in his new role leading the team.
Sam’s focus is on swimmer development, helping each athlete continue to grow and improve over the course of the season.
Outside the pool, Sam plays the piano. His message to swimmers is simple: Swim fast, have fun. Families can expect a fun, engaging environment where swimmers are supported as they build skills and confidence.
Allison returns for her fourth season as a developmental coach with the Whetstone Whales. A longtime Whale since age four, she also swam for RMSC Minis and has been a member of the Wheaton High School Varsity Swim & Dive Team for the past four years, serving as team captain.
Butterfly is her favorite stroke, and she loves the energy of Whale pep rallies and fun Friday whirlpools. One of her favorite Whale memories is the Mini Meet, where she enjoys seeing swimmers’ hard work from the season pay off and being able to reward them for their hard work.
Allison believes coaching with patience and positivity is the best way to see improvement from athletes.
Outside the pool, Allison is a high school senior and will attend the University of Delaware next year to major in mechanical engineering.
Camille joins the Whetstone Whales coaching staff this season after years of volunteering with younger swimmers and growing up as part of the team herself. A Whale for 10 years, she also swam varsity at Academy of the Holy Cross High School and participated in Stroke & Turn for two seasons, bringing both experience and team spirit to the pool deck.
Freestyle is her favorite stroke, and she loves the tradition of earning Whale food after dropping time at meets. One of her favorite Whale memories is competing in the Fun Friday obstacle courses during morning practices.
Camille’s goal is to be a positive role model for younger swimmers while helping them build confidence, make friendships, and enjoy every part of the summer swim season.
Outside the pool, Camille enjoys musical arts and has been involved in theater for seven years. Families can expect a fun, encouraging environment where swimmers are supported as they learn new skills, grow as teammates, and create lasting summer memories.

Breaststroke is her favorite stroke, and she’s a big fan of the team tradition of heading to Ledo’s after A-meets. One of her favorite Whale moments is cheering on her teammates.

Outside the pool, Allison plays clarinet in the SVHS marching band and participates in theater productions. Her message to swimmers: Go Whales! Families can expect a welcoming environment where swimmers are encouraged to grow, have fun, and feel part of the team.
